Ruthie - 2011 Red Dun Quarter Horse (unreg.) Mare, 15 Hands

Ruthie is the most darling red dun mare. She came off of a ranch where she was ridden for 3 years. My friend bought her but plans didn’t work out for him. She has a solid ranch background including an easy one-handed neck rein, ropes and holds calves, opens gates, and has steady long trot. We decided to add Ruthie on as project for our 12-year-old rider. She has 2 horses that she is riding and really likes to go jumping. Ruthie had no idea what jumps were or even why she should jump them but within 2 lessons, she was hopping over 2 foot jumps with ease. Being a ranch horse, Ruthie did not come with a little arena canter but she is working on it. She does pick up both leads and will canter between her fences. We are not only working on her English; we continue to enjoy Ruthie’s ranching talents. I will continue to work on refining her arena work and take her to some of the local working ranch type shows. She is going to a great option for somebody wanting the all-around mount. Ruthie, of course, handles trails and obstacles with no trouble. This is a nice, uncomplicated mare.

We took Ruthie to an extreme desensitizing clinic in February 2018. She was unphased by all of the commotion that included tents, tarps, blow-up yard decorations, logs, barrels, and much more. Ruthie took very good care of her 6 year old rider. Video is uploaded! I also put Ruthie's first Ranch It Up show and her first jumper show with Kinsley on the video. Ruthie is cool, cool mare and she is looking for a kid.

Sold to a wonderful family!
